We are a Great Expectations school.  We have high standards for the students.  We have procedures that must be followed in order to have a learning environment conducive to optimum achievement.  There are expectations that are constantly expected from each student.  I find that concentrating on building these procedures and expectations the first few weeks of school pays off for the rest of the year, by allowing an orderly, functioning classroom where learning can occur free from fear and interruptions.  The students will need to learn and follow all procedures and expectations.

The Expectations

1.     We will value one another as unique and special individuals.  The student will receive respect both from the teachers and from fellow students.

2.    We will not laugh or make fun of a person’s mistakes nor use sarcasms or put downs.  Physical and verbal intimidation, teasing and sarcasm earn strong consequences.

3.    We will use good manners saying “please”, “thank you”, “excuse me”, and allow others to go first.

4.    We will cheer each other to success.

5.    We will help one another whenever possible.

6.    We will recognize every effort and applaud it.

7.    We will encourage each other to do our best.

8.    We will practice virtuous living using the life principles.  We will use these in the halls, in the cafeteria, in music and PE– even when nobody is looking, — regardless of what other students are doing.

Good behavior in the classrooms will be reinforced naturally.  Loss of privileges can occur for not following the procedures or not doing the right thing.

1.         Nurturing Attitude:      Unselfish caring, supportiveness, and a willingness to share.

2.         Responsibility:           Show and encourage a personal commitment to each task.

3.         Dependability:            Being there for others through all the time of their lives.

4.         Friendship:                 The habit that binds people together when we take pleasure in each other’s company, listen, laugh, and share good times and bad.

5.         Brotherhood:              The habit that reaches beyond comfortable relationships to extend a welcome to those who may be different from ourselves.

6.         High Expectations:     This involves believing that others can be successful, telling them so, and praising their accomplishments.

7.         Courage:                    Standing up and doing the right thing, speaking out on behalf of others, and making a commitment to excellence even when others are not supporting you.

8.         Hope:                         Believe in tomorrow—go beyond what we see because we have learned to see with our hearts
